Organizing a shoot with folders

Folders let you organize a shoot’s photos into named groups — Ceremony, Reception, Class 3B, one folder per shooter — and your customer’s gallery picks up the same structure as tabs. Folders are entirely optional: a shoot with no folders looks and works exactly as it always has, for you and for your customers.

They’re most useful on large shoots. A customer who wants eight ceremony photos can open the Ceremony tab and download just that folder instead of pulling the entire delivery — faster for them, and less of your data-transfer allowance spent per delivery.

Creating folders

Open the shoot’s media panel:

• On a shoot with no folders yet, click Organize into folders, type a name, and click Create.
• Once a shoot has folders, use + New folder to add more.

Folders appear as a row of chips above the photo grid, next to Shoot root (the photos not in any folder). Each chip shows the folder’s name and how many items it holds.

A few practical notes:

• Folders are flat — one level, no folders inside folders.
• A photo lives in one folder at a time (or at the shoot root).
• Folders are purely organizational: pricing, packages, and access are still set on the shoot itself.

Renaming, reordering, and deleting

• Rename — double-click a folder chip and type the new name.
• Reorder — drag a chip onto another chip; the order you set is the order your customer sees the tabs in.
• Delete — click the small trash button on the chip. Only empty folders can be deleted; if the folder still has photos, you’ll be offered Move contents to root first, so nothing is ever deleted with the folder. Deleting a folder never deletes photos.

Moving photos into folders

Use Select (shown once the shoot has at least one folder):

1. Click Select, then tick the photos you want to move.
2. In the bar that appears, pick a destination under Move to… — the Shoot root or any folder.
3. Click Move.

Uploading straight into a folder

Once a shoot has folders, a destination picker appears next to Upload files — choose Upload to: Shoot root or Upload to: any folder, and the batch lands there. Uploading folder-by-folder is also a nice way to break a big event into smaller, safer upload batches.

What your customer sees

• No folders → no change. The gallery looks exactly as before.
• With folders, the gallery shows a tab per folder (with a count). Photos at the shoot root appear under an Unsorted tab — which only shows up if there actually are unfiled photos.
• If the shoot has nothing unfiled, the gallery lands on the first folder that has photos — customers never open to an empty tab.
• On a folder tab, customers with unlocked photos get a Download this folder as ZIP button — same rules as the gallery-wide download, just scoped to that folder.

Folders in public galleries

Public galleries support folders too, managed right in the gallery editor with the same controls as a shoot — create and rename folders, drag to reorder, choose an upload destination, and move images between folders and the Gallery root.

Visitors to a gallery organized into folders get the same experience customers do: folder tabs, an Unsorted tab when there are unfiled images, and a Download this folder button for what’s available to them.
